Privacy policy

Plain English, and short, because this website does very little with your information. Most of what follows is about what the club does once you choose to email us.

Last updated 16 October 2026. Pretoria Athletic Football Club is the responsible party for the information described here. Our details are at the bottom of this page.

What this website collects

Almost nothing. There is no account to create, no comment box and no newsletter. The site does count visits, so that the club can see which pages families actually use, and the counter was chosen because it needs nothing personal to work. To be specific:

  • No cookies are set by this site
  • No advertising or social media pixels
  • Nothing stored in your browser between visits
  • No profile of you, and nothing that follows you elsewhere

That is why you have not been asked to accept cookies. There are none to accept. The counter is Cloudflare Web Analytics. It records the page you opened, the site you arrived from, your screen size, and the country your connection resolves to. It uses your IP address to work that country out and does not store it, it puts nothing in your browser, and it does not try to recognise you on a later visit.

What happens when you send a form

The registration, trial and enquiry forms do not submit to a server. Filling one in and pressing the button opens your own email app with the details already written out. Nothing leaves your device until you press send in your mail program, and the website never sees or keeps a copy.

When you do send it, the email arrives at admin@pafc.co.za and is held in the club's mailbox like any other message. Depending on the form, it will contain:

  • The player's full name and date of birth
  • The age group, and preferred playing position if you gave one
  • A parent or guardian's name, phone number and email address
  • A previous or current club or school, if you gave one
  • Anything you chose to write in the notes, which some families use to tell us about a medical condition

We ask for this so that we can arrange a trial, place a player in the right age group, register them with the league, and reach a parent or guardian on a match day. We do not use it for marketing and we do not sell it to anyone.

Children's information

Most of the people this club exists for are under 18, so most of what we hold is a child's information. South African law treats that as deserving extra care, and we agree.

  • Forms should be completed by a parent or guardian, not by the child
  • By sending one you are giving permission for us to hold and use those details for football
  • We keep only what a season actually requires
  • A parent or guardian can ask to see, correct or delete it at any time

Photographs

The photographs on this site are the club's own, taken at training sessions, matches and club events, and they show our players. If you would rather a photograph of your child was not on the website, email us and we will take it down. We do not need a reason.

Who else is involved

The site is deliberately plain, but a few outside services are unavoidable, and each one can see your IP address because your browser has to connect to it.

AfrihostHosts the site and the club mailbox
Google FontsServes the two typefaces
CloudflareServes the animation library, and counts visits
InqakuSource of the league tables

The league tables are copied from Inqaku's published records when we refresh the site. That is match data, not anything about you, and your visit here is not reported back to them.

The registration forms on the registration page are encrypted. The access code unlocks them inside your own browser. The code is not sent to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see what you typed.

How long we keep it, and your rights

Registration details are kept for as long as a player is at the club and for a reasonable period afterwards, because leagues and federations can ask us to show who played. Enquiries that go nowhere are deleted once they have been answered.

You can ask us at any time to:

  • Tell you what information we hold about you or your child
  • Correct anything that is wrong
  • Delete it, where we are not required to keep it
  • Stop using it for something you are not happy with

Email admin@pafc.co.za and we will come back to you. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa, which oversees this area.
